Pētījumā tika izmantotas trīs aptaujas – Vispārējās pašefektivitātes aptauja (General Self-Efficacy Scale, Schwarzer & Jerusalem, 1995), Vecāku kompetences izjūtas skala – VKI (The Parenting Sense of Competence Scale (PSOC), Johnston & Mash, 1989) un Apmierinātības ar partnerattiecībām skala (The Comprehensive Marital Satisfaction Scale (CMSS), Blum & Mehrabian, 1999).
The objective of the Master's Thesis is to clarify the interdependence of the fatherly self-efficacy, parental sense of competence and satisfaction with the partnership relations, as well as to explore whether the fatherly self-efficacy or the satisfaction with the partnership relations is better predicting the fatherly sense of competence. The study involved 90 men aged of 20 to 46 years (average age – 29 years), who became fathers for the first time and the age of their children is from 1.5 month to 1 year (average age – 8 months).
Three surveys have been used in the study – General Self-Efficacy Scale (Schwarzer & Jerusalem, 1995), Parenting Sense of Competence Scale (PSOC) (Johnston & Mash, 1989) and Comprehensive Marital Satisfaction Scale (CMSS) (Blum &Mehrabian,1999).
The results of the study revealed that there is a statistically significant positive correlation between the fatherly sense of competence, general self-efficacy and the satisfaction with the partnership relations. In turn, responding to the second question of the study, the regression analysis showed that the general self-efficacy and satisfaction with the partnership relations are statistically significantly predicting fatherly sense of competence, but fatherly sense of competence more predict satisfaction with partnership.
