The study provides wealthy person characteristics and on the basis of international best practice analysis establishes what are the essential factors that determine the wealthy person's choice of credit institution for its asset management. By assessing Latvia’s and its credit institution’s potential advantages and disadvantages, there are determined preconditions that would be feasible to develop to increase competitiveness of Latvian credit institutions services in segment of servicing wealthy individuals – private banking.
Result of the study concluded that there are a number of prerequisites for Latvian credit institutions to successfully develop wealthy person services (for example, geographical location, knowledge of languages, IT). However, the implementation of private banking best practice at the moment is significantly hampered by a number of industry’s and countries negative indicators that need to be improved. The success in wealthy person’s services is based not only on credit institution, but more often on credit institutions countries reputation.
