Bakalaura darba ietvaros veiktajā pētījumā astoņos Rīgas pilsētas mežaparku (Mežaparks, Anniņmuižas mežaparks, Bolderājas mežaparks, Juglas mežaparks, Biķernieku mežaparks, Šmerļa mežaparks, Bābelītes mežaparks un Ulbrokas mežaparks) augsnēs noteikts kopējais ogleklis. Pētījumā aprēķināts kopējais akumulētais oglekļa daudzums augsnes O/A horizontā un augsnes virsējā EB horizontā.
Within this bachelor work soils of eight Riga city forestparks (Mežaparks, Anniņmuižas forestpark, Bolderājas forestpark, Juglas forestpark, Biķernieku forestpark, Šmerļa forestpark, Bābelītes forestpark un Ulbrokas forestpark) were analyzed for total carbon. Within this research, the amount of total accumulated carbon in soil O layer , A layer and the top of EB mineral soil layer was calculated. The acquired data has been shown in schematic maps.
Through this research it has been concluded, that in total 1577 ha area of selected forestparks, in the O layer, A layer and first 10 cm of EB mineral layer 118,7 thousand tons of carbon is accumulated. The average total carbon amount in layer is 62 t C ha-1. The largest amount of total carbon 26,1 thousand tons, has been accumulated in Biķernieku forest park, also the highest amount of total carbon 82,6 t C ha-1 has been found in Anniņmuiža forstpark. In comparison with the research done by SILAVA (2013), on renewing pine forest ecosystems, the amount of total carbon in Riga forestpark soils is 34% higher, never the less, in comparison with the average soil total carbon amounts in Latvia’s forests 215 t C ha-1 , it is very low, which can be explained by the general poorness of pine forest soils.
