Šis bakalaura darbs pēta leksiski stilistiskos paņēmienus un to lomu reklāmā, sevišķi drukātās automašīnu reklāmās. This bachelor paper investigates lexical stylistic devices and their role in advertising, specifically, printed car advertisements. The author reviews literature regarding stylistic devices, their classifications, advertising and discourse analysis, as well as carries out a qualitative research in the form of discourse analysis. The goal of the research is to analyse the use of lexical stylistic devices in advertising and consider the reasons for their use. Three research questions are formulated - how often are lexical stylistic devices used in printed car advertisement headlines, which lexical stylistic devices are the most frequently used in printed car advertisement headlines, and why are lexical stylistic devices used in printed car advertisement headlines? The author analyses a randomly selected sample of 100 car advertisements using the three-dimensional framework by Fairclough (1995). Based on the results of the research, the author concludes that the majority of car advertisements feature lexical stylistic devices, with the most popular being personification, pun, and allusion, which help to create emotional attachment to cars, address the interests of the male target market, and convey a sense of power, freedom and excitement.
