Kiziks K., 2015.
Kiziks K., 2015. „Records of paleogeographical condition changes in the sediments of Selēku-Jaunzušu depressions”. Master Thesis, Rīga, University of Latvia, Faculty of Geography and Earth Sciences, Department of Geography.
Sediment layers from Selēku-Jaunzušu depression have been studied in the frame of Master’s work and changes of paleogeographical conditions during their accumulation have been reconstructed. Investigation has been based on the field studies, including geological coring and sounding, as well as, sediment Loss on Ignition, pollen, plant macroremain, peat botanical composition analyses and sediment absolute dating results obtained by AMS 14C method and data interpretation.
Results of analysis carried out in the study point on the existence of palaeolake in the Selēku-Jaunzušu depression during the Late Glacial time before 13900 cal. yr BP. It is possible that palaeolake had connection with Baltic Ice Lake existed during that time. Results of sediment analysis carried out in the study reflect changes in paleogeographical conditions in the depression during lake and mire deposit formation in the Holocene.
Master Thesis contain 67 pages, 26 figures, 4 tables and 2 appendixes.
