The objective is to arrive at the fundamental Christian values and their effect on the values of postmodernist society, and to examine how they are reflected in the Constitution of the Republic of Latvia and elsewhere in Europe. The aims of the Thesis include analysis of the core of the Constitution of 1922, the main features of the identity of a nation, collating information about constitutional values in other countries, and the fundamental concepts of the European Union.
The Thesis concludes that the main human values do not change over the course of time, they are adapted to each given period of time and people’s comprehension, and that society has accepted a common set of values recognised everywhere in the world, with every individual distinguishing and following the values closest to him or her.
