Uz stāstiem balstīti uzdevumi angļu valodas teksta izpratnes pilnveidei vidusskolā

Abstract

Diplomdarba nosaukums ir „Uz stāstiem balstīti uzdevumi angļu valodas teksta izpratnes pilnveidei vidusskolā”. Izvirzītais darba mērķis ir noskaidrot, kā uz stāstiem balstīti uzdevumi var palīdzēt pilnveidot vidusskolēnu teksta izpratni angļu valodas stundās. Atsevišķa gadījuma pētījums ir izvēlēts kā pētījuma metode, kas tika realizēts Siguldas Valsts ģimnāzijas 10. klases angļu valodas stundās. Tās dalībnieki bija 13 skolēni. Pētījuma laikā skolēni tika anketēti, analizēta skolēnu attieksme pret viņu obligātajiem mācību grāmatas tekstiem un viņu lasīšanas izpratne, aprakstīta skolēnu darbošanās angļu valodas stundās, kurās bija iekļauti uz stāstiem balstīti uzdevumi, un analizēta skolēnu atgriezeniskā saite. Anketēšanā gūto atbilžu analīze rādīja, ka skolēniem bija problēmas, lasot tekstu un pildot lasīšanas uzdevumus. Viņiem nebija pietiekami pacietības izlasīt tekstu līdz galam. Uzdevumi, balstīti uz stāstiem, mudināja viņus izlasīt tekstu līdz galam. Skolēni uzskatīja, ka viņu mācību grāmatā dotie teksti ir interesantāki kā skolotājas dotais teksti, jo mācību grāmatas piedāvāja tekstus par dažādām tēmām. Lasīšanas laikā pirms uzdevumiem skolēni jautāja viens otram dažu vārdu tulkojumu, sadarbojās ar citiem klasesbiedriem, lai saprastu tekstu. Gandrīz visiem skolēniem patika uzdevumi un piedalīšanās tajos. Uz stāstu balstīti uzdevumi, iekļauti angļu valodas stundās, pamudināja skolēnus lasīt tekstus līdz beigām. Turklāt lugu uzvešana lika skolēniem uzzināt nezināmo vārdu nozīmi un atcerēties tos. Lugas parādīja, cik labi teksts tika saprasts, lai gan tekstiem būtu jābūt izvēlētiem interesantākiem abiem dzimumiem.

The title of the Diploma Paper is “Story Based Activities for Improving English Reading Comprehension in Secondary School”. The set aim is to explore how story based activities can help to improve secondary school students’ reading comprehension in English lessons. A case study as a method of research is chosen which was accomplished in English lessons in Sigulda State Gymnasium in Form 10. The participants were 13 students. During the research students completed a questionnaire, and their attitude to compulsory texts given in their coursebooks and reading comprehension was analysed. The students’ performance in English lesson including story based activity was described, the students’ written answers in feedback forms were analysed. The analysis of the questionnaire answers showed that students had problems in reading the text and doing reading tasks. They did not have patience enough to read the text until the end. Story based activities promoted them to read the text until the end. Students found texts in their coursebooks more interesting than texts given by the teacher because coursebooks offered texts about different themes. While reading before the activities students asked each other translation of some words thus the activities made students cooperate with other classmates to understand the text. Almost all students liked a play as a story based activity and participating in it. In English lessons involving story based activities students were promoted to read the text until the end. Furthermore, enacting a play made learners find out the meaning of unknown words and remember them. Plays showed how good the text was understood although the texts should be chosen more interesting for both genders.
