Filmu fragmenti angļu valodas gramatikas induktīvai apguvei 12. klasē

Abstract

Skolēnu vajadzības un vēlmes attiecībā uz angļu valodas mācīšanos laika gaitā ir mainījušās, tādēļ, lai nodrošinātu skolēnu mācīšanās vajadzību un vēlmju ievērošanu, skolotājiem ir jābūt informētiem par jaunākajām mācību metodēm un pieejām angļu valodas mācīšanai. Mūsdienās skolēniem nesagādā grūtības komunikācija angļu valodā un viņi ir prasmīgi valodas lietotāji, pateicoties interneta videi, kurā skolēni pavada daļu brīvā laika. Skolotāju loma ir nodrošināt skolēnus ar pareizas valodas un gramatikas lietošanas priekšnosacījumiem, piedāvājot motivējošas un interesantas valodas mācīšanās metodes un instrumentus. Ņemot vērā iepriekšminēto, diplomdarba autore veica pētījumu, lai noskaidrotu kā filmu fragmentu izmantošana sekmē angļu valodas gramatikas induktīvu apguvi. Mērķa sasniegšanai 2015. gada novembrī un decembrī tika veikts atsevišķa gadījuma pētījums X vidusskolā 12. klasē. Lai noskaidrotu mācīšanās vajadzības un angļu valodas gramatikas zināšanu pašvērtējumu, skolēniem kā datu vākšanas metode tika piedāvāta autores izstrādāta anketa. Balstoties uz datiem, iegūtiem anketēšanas rezultātā, tika atlasīti filmu fragmenti un video, kā arī izstrādāti vai adaptēti uzdevumi, kuri tika piedāvāti skolēniem un izmantoti pētījuma laikā vadītajās mācību stundās. Lai noskaidrotu kā filmu fragmentu izmantošana sekmējusi gramatikas induktīvu apguvi, tika izstrādāts un skolēniem piedāvāts zināšanu pārbaudes tests par stāstījuma izteiksmes laiku izmantošanu. Anketā atspoguļotie dati liecina, ka skolēni apzinās angļu valodas gramatikas nepieciešamību valodas apguvē un norādīja uz nepieciešamību apgūt gramatiku biežāk kā reizi nedēļā. Neskatoties uz to, ka skolēni anketā atzīmējuši variantu, ka gramatikas mācīšanā dod priekšroku skolotājas dotiem likumu izskaidrojumiem, skolēni anketās izrādījuši interesi par filmu izmantošanu gramatikas apguves procesā, kas kalpoja par mērķi pētījumam nepieciešamo filmu fragmentu atlasei un uzdevumu izstrādei. Atsevišķa gadījuma pētījuma rezultāti apliecina, ka filmu fragmentu izmantošana ir veicinājusi gramatikas induktīvu apguvi, ko apliecina zināšanu pārbaudes darbā skolēnu uzrādītie rezultāti. Filmu izmantošana veicinājusi skolēnu spēju apzināšanos, sekmējusi skolēnu savstarpējo sadarbību stundās. Izmantojot filmas ar autentisku valodas lietojumu, mācību process skolēniem šķita jēgpilns, dodot iespēju gramatiku apgūt kontekstā, gramatikas laiku lietošanas likumus izsecinot no reālās dzīves situācijām, piedāvātām filmu fragmentos. Students’ needs and wishes for the English language learning have changed during time and teachers have to be well informed about the novelties of the latest teaching methods and techniques to meet the students’ interests and needs. Nowadays students are good English language users and are at ease in communication due to the use of the internet and other multimedia tools on daily basis. The role of the teacher is to help them to form accurate language use habits learning grammar by offering them motivating and interesting English language learning techniques and tools. Therefore, the author of the Paper carried out the research to explore how the use of movie clips contributes to inductive grammar learning. In order to achieve the aim, a case study was carried out in X Secondary School in November - December 2015.The questionnaire was designed and distributed to seven Form 12 students as a data collection method to find out the students’ grammar learning needs, and self-evaluation of grammar knowledge. Based on the answers gained from the questionnaire, the movie clips and video were selected, activities developed and a sequence of lessons using the materials followed. To find out how movie clips contributed to inductive grammar learning, the achievement test on narrative tenses was designed and given to the students. The data gained from the questionnaire showed that the students acknowledged the importance of English grammar knowledge and pointed out the necessity to learn grammar more than once a week. Nevertheless, the students preferred a teacher-centred learning being given and explained a grammar rule, in the questionnaire they marked the interest in the use of video technique for grammar learning. Thus, the movie clips were selected and the follow-up activities design for inductive grammar teaching lessons conducted as a case study for the research. The results of the case study proved that the use of movie clips contributed to the inductive grammar learning beneficially as the students showed good results in the achievement test. The use of movie clips boosted the students’ self-confidence, promoted peer teaching and the grammar learning process became meaningful as they saw the language used in real-life situations and contexts. Noticing the use of narrative tenses in the real-life language used in the movie clips the students learnt grammar inductively discovering the rules from the contexts.
