The aim of this study is to examine the relationship revealed by Trait Emotional Intelligence self-accessment indicatiors and Trait Emotional Intelligence partner evaluation results from people of latvian ethnicity, who are in romantic relationships. This paper theorethically describes Emotional Intelligence, its’ definitions and models, romantic relationships and its’ main characters, as well as gives brief insight in previous Emotional Intelligence studies in the context of romantic relationships. Based on theoretical findings, conducted study will be described and results of statistical data analysis showed. Reserach participants are latvians, 20 - 66 years of age, who are in romantic relationships of at least one year. Respondents represent various Lavian cities: small towns (15,38%), Jelgava (1,92%), Jūrmala (7,69%), countryside (3,85%), places near Rīga (9,62%), Rēzekne ( 1,92%), Rīga (53,85%), Valmiera (5,77%). This study employed Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire - short form (Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire - short form, Petrides, 2009), as well as Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire 360 ° - short form ( Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire 360 ° - short form, Petrides, 2009), which were adapted by Lelde Veiguļa- Bernāne (2016) in the process of this study. Theoretical part of this paper describes Emotional Intelligence and its main models and gives more deeper explanation of Trait Emotional Intelligence and benefits of using it. Theoretical part also includes the definition of romantic relationships and a record of its main characters. Study results suggest that Trait Emotional Intelligence self - accessement results don’t have a significant relation with Trait Emotional Intelligence partner evaluation results r = 0,27, p = 0,03 < 0,05 , however there is a significant statistical relationship (positive correlation) revealed between Trait emotional intelligence self accessment results and relationship longitude r = 0,31, p = 0,5 > 0,05 and Trait emotional intelligence self accessment results and relationship quantitude (negative correlation) r = - 0,31, p = 0,12 > 0,05.
