IEEE 802.1ah realizācija

Abstract

IEEE 802.1ah apraksta Provider Backbone Bridge (PBB) funkcionalitāti, kuras mērķis ir savienot dažādu veidu citu IEEE 802.1 standartos aprakstīto tiltu tīklus vienā lokālajā tīklā. Maģistra darba mērķis ir izpētīt IEEE 802.1ah darbību un prasības, kā arī veikt realizāciju šim standartam iekš Linux kodola. Darbā tiek aprakstīti iepriekšējie IEEE 802.1 standarti, uz kuriem balstās 802.1ah standarts, kā arī pats IEEE 802.1ah standarts. Pēc tam tiek apskatīta IEEE 802.1ah pieejamība pasaulē un citas realizācijas. Visbeidzot tiek sniegts ieskats Linux kodola tīklošanas apakšsistēmā, tiek aprakstīta IEEE 802.1ah realizācija, kas ir veikta, Linux kodola tilta modulī, un tiek aprakstīta tās testēšana. Darba nobeigumā tiek novērtēts izveidotās IEEE 802.1ah realizācijas korektums, potenciālie pielietojumi un uzlabojumi.

IEEE 802.1ah is a standard that describes Provider Backbone Bridge (PBB) functionality, which main function is to bridge various previously defined IEEE 802.1 bridges into one physical local area network. This master thesis’s main goals are to reaseach and implement the IEEE 802.1ah standard. Implementation is done in the Bridge driver of the Linux kernel. Previously defined standards are researched as well since the IEEE 802.1ah is closely connected to them. Quick summary of the available implementations are presented. After that the Linux kernel networking stack is researched and the implementation is developed and tested. In the end the IEEE 802.1ah implementation is evaluated and the possible applications and improvements are given.
