The bachelor thesis „Parental perceptions of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder” is a research of what makes the parents, whose children are diagnosed with attention deficit and hyperactivity syndrome, experience and thus their perceptions of this diagnose. The narrative of parents experience is being viewed by using concepts of diagnostics and stigmatization. The results of the research indicate that parents and children are forced to face different kinds of stigmatization in school and beyond it. Stigmatizing attitudes are also found among parents who choose to give their children the ADHD medication, and those who choose not to give it. Stigmatization is mostly promoted by the lack of public awareness, as well the uncertainty of ADHD symptoms and etiology.
