Globalisation has created a world village (Amundson, 2005, pp 91-99) and has caused significant consequences for the socioeconomic notion of migration. It is extremely important to understand the process of migration for the benefit, security, solidity and growth of the society. Current thesis presents the research focused on Brazil – European Union migration, particularly with two culturally closest countries such as Spain and Portugal. Taking into account the fact this migration flow was not widely discovered, the author of the paper will provide an insight on this issue, including several theoretical considerations, statistical data, analysis of the migration flows, as well as personal experiences and integration stories of the migrants. The novelty of this research is that it focuses not only on European Union Member States and their mutual migration, but also observes the link with Latin America, in our case with Brazil, which is considered as one of the most diverse and culturally richest countries in the world. The research is dealing with various factors influencing migration from Brazil to Spain and Portugal and vice versa. The purpose of this thesis is to gain an in depth understanding of migration reasons, integration in the new societies, challenges and also consequences of this movement. In order to provide clear understanding and knowledge required for the thesis a case study methodology will be utilized with interviews with individuals who have moved from their home country and now reside in Brazil, Spain or Portugal. Considering the outcome of this research, a critical analysis of the global politics of international migration will increase people’s awareness of the global migration governance. All things considered, it is an excellent contribution in the field of international migration and its consequences as it opens completely new connection between two different continents.
