Negatīvu emociju apspiešanas ietekme uz elektrodermālo aktivitāti un kodola afektu

Abstract

Pētījuma mērķis ir noskaidrot, vai pastāv statistiski nozīmīgas atšķirības elektrodermālajā aktivitātē starp cilvēkiem, kuri riebumu izraisošu video materiālu skatās, apspiežot savas emocijas, un starp tiem, kuri šo video vēro normālā stāvoklī, arī noskaidrot, vai pēc riebumu izraisoša video materiāla noskatīšanās paaugstināsies indivīdu pašnovērtētie kodola afekta rādītāji. Līdzšinējos pētījumos ir pierādīts, ka, apspiežot negatīvas emocijas, elektrodermālā aktivitāte pieaug, taču šāda tipa pētījumi Latvijā nav veikti. Pētījumā piedalījās 40 dalībnieki - 13 vīrieši un 27 sievietes ar vidējo vecumu 20,65 gadi. Dalībnieki video skatīšanās laikā tika pievienoti elektrodiem, kas mēra elektrodermālo aktivitāti. Dalībniekiem pirms video skatīšanās un pēc video skatīšanās bija jāaizpilda Zviedru kodola afekta skala. Salīdzinot abu grupu elektrodermālās aktivitātes vidējās vērtības video skatīšanās laikā, tika noskaidrots, ka starp kontroles grupu un eksperimentālo grupu nepastāv statistiski nozīmīgas atšķirības. Nepastāv arī statistiski nozīmīgas atšķirības prognozētajās kodola afekta apakšskalās pirms video veikto mērījumu un pēc video veikto mērījumu starpā. Tādējādi pētījumā iegūtie dati liecina, ka negatīvu emociju apspiešana nozīmīgi neietekmē indivīda elektrodermālo aktivitāti un kodola afektu. Šī pētījuma atšķirīgie rezultāti ar līdz šim veiktajiem pētījumiem var būt saistīti ar nelielo izlases apjomu, ar nepietiekamu dažādu mainīgo lielumu kontrolēšanu, nepareizas vai neprecīzas instrukcijas izvēli, kā arī ar indivīdu spēju kontrolēt savas emocijas.

The aim of this study is to find out if there is a statistically significant difference in electro-dermal activity between test subjects who are watching a disgust inducing film clip while suppressing their emotions and between subjects who watch the video in a normal state, as well as to find out if after watching a disgust inducing film clip there will be a significant raise in their self-reported core affect. Recent studies confirm that while suppressing negative emotions the electro-dermal activity increases, but there hasn’t been a similar study in Latvia. 40 participants took part in this study: 13 were men and 27 women with the average age of 20.65 years. Participants while watching the video were attached to electrodes that measure the electro-dermal activity. Participants before and after watching the video had to fill Swedish Core Affect Scale. When comparing the average electro-dermal values of both groups, it was found out that there is no statistically significant difference between the groups while watching the video. Also there was no statistically significant difference in predicted subscales of Swedish Core Affect Scale between the mesurement before the video and after the video. That means that data collected in this study show that suppressing negative emotions does not significantly affect the electro-dermal activity and core affect. The differences between findings of this study and the findings of other recent studies could be explained by the small sample included in this study and some of the variables not well controlled, also by choosing inaccurate or wrong instructions, and the ability of individuals to control their emotions.
