The aim of the research was to explore relationship between perfectionism and procrastination in female and male groups as well as the possible differences in this relationship in genders. Two scales were used to collect data: Almost Perfect Scale-Revised Short Form (Slaney, Mobley, Trippi, Ashby, & Johnson, 1996; scale adapted in Latvian by Renāte Buliņa in 2009) and Procrastination Scale (Lay, 1986; scale adapted in Latvian by Renāte Buliņa in 2011). 68 respondents (30 male, 38 female) between the age of 18 and 25 years participated in the research. The results of the research indicate that a relationship between perfectionism and procrastination exists; however, this relationship depends on the type of perfectionism. Higher results on the scale related to adaptive perfectionism are correlated to lower levels of procrastination, while higher results on the scale indicating maladaptive perfectionism are correlated to a higher level of procrastination. The research does not show any differences in the relationships between perfectionism and procrastination in gender context.
