Current thesis „Cooperation Between Speech Therapist and Family in Correction of 5-6 Years Old Children’s Articulation Disorders” focus on articulation disorders of five to six years old children and their correction work progress and success considering close relationship between both speech therapist and parents. Although the positive influence of parent input have been stressed earlier and is assumed somewhat self-evident, there is a lack of reliable conducted research regarding interaction between the child-parent-speech therapists in Latvia. Hence, applying a qualitative research methods such as decent evaluation of speech disorder type and severity of seven children in age of four to five years old, interviews of their parents and experts of the primary and enclosed field, and detailed analysis of obtained results, author unfolded sensitive questions in-depth that in other way could not be possible to obtain. The major trend indicates a positive link between decreases of speech disorder through the child-parent-speech therapist interaction. On the other hand, the results suggest no straightforward relationship that most likely should be looked in a line of each child holistic development. In addition, results provide insights of what can be achieved and where more input must be carried out in the future to speed-up successful correction work of articulation disorders of four to five years old children. By the best of knowledge, this is one of the rare qualitative research focusing on the issue that is crucial especially in the “age of smart technologies”, a time evidencing lack of so necessary communication and interaction of all mentioned parties. Author believes that this work should continue in a more sophisticated direction where the next steps include wider approbation of the current study suggestions, searching of novel children-parent-speech therapist exercises as well as test the outcome speech disorder progress evaluation using sound recording and analysing softwares. All in all, the results of this study will serve as example for the parents and other experts underlining an importance of early speech disorder correction work to ensure a successful children integration into a local community and overall society. Altogether there are 13 figures, 9 tables and 6 attachments that aid master thesis.
