dc.description.abstract | Pētījuma mērķis bija noskaidrot, kāda saistība pastāv starp vecāku kompetences izjūtu, psiholoģisko labklājību un uztverto sociālo atbalstu mātēm, kuras audzina vienas. Pētījumā piedalījās 67 mātes vecumā no 20-40 gadiem, kurām ir viens vai vairāki bērni vecumā līdz 14 gadiem, kuras nav precējušās vai nedzīvo civillaulībā. Vecāku kompetences izjūta tika mērīta ar Vecāku kompetences izjūtas aptauju (Parenting Sense of Competence Scale, Johnston & Mash, 1989). Psiholoģiskā labklājība tika noteikta ar Psiholoģiskās labklājības aptauju (Scale of Psychological Well-Being, Ryff, 1989). Regresijas analīzes rezultāti rāda, ka uztvertais sociālais atbalsts no nozīmīgiem citiem cilvēkiem prognozē vecāku kompetences izjūtas rādītāju variācijas un psiholoģiskās labklājības rādītāju variācijas.
dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this research was to find out the connection between the parenting sense of competence, psychological well-being and perceived social support for single mothers. This research involved 67 mothers between 20 to 40 years of age, with one or more children aged up to 14 years old and who are not married or living in a common-law relationship. Parenting sense of competence was measured by using Parenting Sense of Competence Scale (Johnston & Mash, 1989). Psychological well-being was determined by using the Scale of Psychological Well-Being (Ryff, 1989). Perceived social support was measured with the Multidimensional Scales of Perceived Social Support questionnaire (Zimet, Dahlem, Farley, 1988). Research results confirm that there is statistically significant positive correlation between the sense of competence and the perceived social support. Mothers who identify higher social support level feel also more satisfied and effective in their parenting role. Whereas the overall level of psychological well-being shows statistically significant positive association between perceived social support from family and significant other people. By seeing greater social support from family or significant other people, the psychological well-being of these mothers will increase as well. Regression analysis shows that perceived social support from significant other people predicts variations in parenting sense of competence indicators and variations in psychological well-being indicators.
