Norises ilgums bija no 25. aprili 2017.gada līdz 20. maijam 2017.gadam daudzfunkcionālā bērnu slimnīcā - jaundzimušo intensīvās terapijas nodaļā. Pētījumā bija iekļauti divi novērojumi, kuru rezultāti atspoguļoti protokolos: 1. Tika novērotas dūrienu skaits. Pēc šo dūrienu skaita varēju novērtēt ar kuru reizi ievietoja katetru, grūtības ievades laikā, katetra izņemšanas iemesli un izņemtā katetra vietas aprūpe; 2. Perifēro vēnu katetru aprūpes protokoli. Novērošana bija vērsta uz māsu darbībām aprūpes laikā, vai māsas ievēro slimnīcas procedūras standartus. Pēc iegūtajiem un apkopotajiem rezultātiem var secināt, ka jaundzimušo intensīvās terapijas nodaļā, perifērās vēnas katetru izmanto ļoti bieži, tādēļ ka to izmanto īslaicīgai medikamentu, infūzijas vai asins pagatavojumu komponentu ievadīšanai. Novērojot māsu darbības un veicot rezultātu analīzi, varu secināt, ka māsas ievēro slimnīcas procedūras standartus. Atslēgas vārdi: perifēro vēnu katetrs (PVK), aprūpe, darbības, sterilitāte, jaundzimušais, intensīvā terapija. Author conducted a research on intravenous catheter use methods for newborns. The goal of this particular research was to analyse the use of peripheral intravenous catheter (IV), and observe what nurses do. This observation will enable to look out for professional standarts of nurses involved in the procedure, as well as to find out how frequently peripheral intravenous catheter (IV) is used in neonatal care. Participants of this research include all medical professionals involved in the procedure and newborns who had to receive IV. In total in this research there were 17 newborns and 15 nurses from which 3 had a 1st level of Professional Education and 12 Paediatric nurses. The research was conducted between 25th of Aprl 2017 up until 20th of May 2017 in highly specialised paediatric hospital in neonatal intensive care unit. The research included twoobservations the results of which are reflected in the protocols below: 1. - the number of punctures occured whilst installing a catheter. The amount of punctures strongly corresponds with how many attempts did it take to install the catheter, the difficulties that may of occured during the procedure, the reasons for the removal of the catheter and the care in the area where catheter was removed from. 2. - Protocols outtining the required care for peripheral intravenous catheter (IV). This was aimed at the nurses who are responsible for carrying out the procedure, there were observed on the steps they took in order to look after the catheters and if they have follow the standard procedures that are outtined by the hospital at which their practise is based in. From analysing the results obtained from the research, it can be concluded that within the neonatal intensive care unit it could be seen that IV method is popular is typically used for short term in order to give medicine, infusions or blood component transfusion. From the nurse observation result analysis of those observations, it can be seen that all important standarts of care and standard procedures outtined by the hospital were followed by the members of staff.
