Abstract
Diplomdarba mērķis bija pārbaudīt kā komēdiju seriāli palīdz pilnveidot vārdu krājumu angļu valodā 8. klasē. Diplomdarba autore uzskata, ka vārdu krājums ir nozīmīgs aspekts valodas apguves procesā un to ir nepieciešams pilnveidot. Turklāt, komēdiju seriāla izmantošana kā mācību materiāla avotu, spēj pilnveidot vārdu krājuma apguvi. Izvēlētā pētījuma metode bija atsevišķa gadījuma pētījums Rīgas 85. vidusskolā. Anketa, stundu plāni, mācību sasniegumu testi un nobeiguma projekts tika izvēlēti kā datu vākšanas metodes. Lai pārbaudītu kā komēdiju seriāli ietekmē vārdu krājuma apguvi tika novadītas divas stundas, izveidoti divi mācību sasniegumu testi un nobeiguma projekts. Iegūtie dati liecināja, ka skolēniem patīk strādāt ar komēdiju seriāliem, kā arī to, ka izvēlētā metode palīdzēja pilnveidot vārdu krājumu angļu valodā. Darba autore secināja, ka ir nozīmīgi izvēlēties komēdiju seriālu, kas skolēniem patīk un sniedz labumu valodas apguves procesam. Lai arī diplomdarba mērķis tika sasniegts, autore iesaka veikt turpmākos pētījumus konkrētajā jomā.
The aim of the Diploma Paper is to find out how sitcoms can improve English vocabulary in Form 8. The Author of the Paper believes that vocabulary is essential aspect of language learning process and it is necessary to improve it. Moreover, using sitcoms as a teaching aid can help to improve vocabulary acquirement. The chosen method of research was a case study in Riga Secondary School No. 85. Questionnaire, lesson plans, achievement tests and the final project by the Author were chosen as data collection methods. There were two lessons conducted, two achievement tests and a final project created in order to find out the impact of sitcoms in vocabulary acquirement. The gained data showed that the students enjoyed working with sitcoms and it helped them to improve English vocabulary. The Author concluded that it is crucial to choose a sitcom which the learners would enjoy and which would benefit the learning process. Although the aim of the Diploma Paper was reached, the Author suggests carrying out a further research on the topic.
