Viena no aktuālākajām izglītības reformām paredz, ka pamatizglītības apguvi bērni sāks sešu gadu vecumā. One of the most topical educational reforms anticipates that children will start the acquisition of elementary education at the age of six. Currently, the school is traditionally started at the age of seven. In the context of Latvia, the development of the child as a whole has been relatively little studied in order to determine whether children are socially prepared enough to start schooling at the age of six. The necessity to study the social development of students initiated the subject of Aija Liepa’s master thesis “The study of social development factors in Grade 7 of pupils who have started their basic education at the age of 6”. The study analyzes the social development of pupils when the acquisition of elementary education begins at the age of six. Using theoretical research methods, social development factors are resolved and certain social development components and criteria are determined. In the empirical part of the research, using qualitative empirical methods, it was investigated and analyzed how the acquisition of elementary education at the age of 6 affects the future social development of students.
