Pēdējos gados Latvijas finanšu tirgus ir pieaudzis, it īpaši strauji ir attīstījusies komercbanku nozare, piedāvājot un ieviešot jaunus finanšu produktus un pakalpojumus, kā arī uzlabojot jau esošos, kļuva par galvenajiem finanšu starpniekiem valsts ekonomikā. Bakalaura darba tēma „Komercbanku loma ekonomikā” ir aktuāla, jo tieši attīstīta banku nozare nodrošina normālu valsts funkcionēšanu pašreizējā ekonomikas attīstības posmā. Mūsdienās nav iespējams iedomāties harmoniski attīstītu valsts bez plaša banku tīkla, kas nodrošina nepārtrauktu naudas apriti, piedāvājot plašas līdzekļu ieguldīšanas iespējas ar mērķi veidot uzkrājumus un daudzveidīgas papildu finansējuma iespējas. Komercbankas ir svarīgas gan juridiskajām gan fiziskajām personām, kā arī ir nozīmīgas nodokļu maksātājas. Darba mērķis ir, balstoties uz teoriju un statistiskajiem datiem, pamatot komercbanku lomu Latvijas ekonomikas attīstībā, uz izpētes pamata izstrādāt secinājumus un sniegt priekšlikumus, kā ir iespējams palielināt banku lomu ekonomikā. Bakalaura darbs sastāv no 3 nodaļām. Pirmā nodaļa ir teorētiska, tiek izpētīta banku sektora būtība un teorētiskās nostādnes par kredīta un noguldījumu būtību. Otrā nodaļa ir veltīta kreditēšanas un noguldījumu tendencēm Latvijā, kā arī ir izanalizētas kopējo banku aktīvu izmaiņas. Trešajā nodaļā tiek izvērtēts banku sektora devums Latvijas ekonomikai un apskatītas finanšu sektora, tai skaitā banku nozares, attīstības iespējas. Darba izstrādei tika izmantoti dažādi zinātniskās literatūras avoti, pieejami interneta resursi, kā arī Finanšu un kapitāla tirgus komisijas (FKTK), Centrālās statistikas pārvaldes, Latvijas Republikas Ekonomikas ministrijas, Latvijas Bankas un Eiropas Centrālās Bankas publicētie materiāli un statistiskie dati. Bakalaura darba apjoms ir 63 lappuses, darbā iekļautas 6 tabulas un 21 attēls. Darbā izmantoti 40 literatūras avoti. Atslēgvārdi: komercbankas, komercbanku pakalpojumi, kreditēšana, noguldījumi, valsts ekonomikas, attīstība. The Latvian financial market has grown considerably in the last years. Specifically, commercial banking sector has been developing rapidly, offering and involving new financial products and services, as well as developing already existing elements, becoming one of the leading financial mediators in the economy of the government. Bachelor Thesis “The role of commercial banks in economy” is widely discussed topic and is relevant, since namely well-developed banking sector can assure the appropriate functionality of the government at the present stage of economic development. As a topic of today, it is impossible to imagine the harmonious development of the country without a broad banking network that provide continuous money circulation. Moreover, banking network offers broad opportunities for investments that in turn is offered with an aim to make savings, as well as this network provide multiple opportunities for additional financing. Commercial banks are relevant both to juridical person and to natural persons, additionally they are meaningful taxpayers. The purpose of this study is the justification of the role of commercial banks in development of the Latvian economy, based on theory and statistical data. Based on the research done, the conclusions should be finalized, and recommendations should be elaborated with regard new ideas, how to improve the role of banks in the economy of the government. This bachelor thesis consists of 3 main chapters. The first chapter is theoretical part, where the essence of banking sector overall is researched, as well theoretical concepts of credits and investments are described. The second chapter focuses on trends in lending and investments in Latvia, as well as an analysis of banking assets’ changes. In the third chapter contribution of banking sector in Latvian economy is assessed. Additionally, opportunities for future development of the financial sector are considered, including banking sphere. To crate this work different sources of scientific literature, available in the Internet, were used. Furthermore, materials and statistical data published by the Financial and Capital Market Commission (FCMC), Central Statistical Bureau, Ministry of Economy of Republic of Latvia, Bank of Latvia and European Central Bank were used. The work is written on 63 pages, including 6 tables and 21 figures. In total, 39 literature references were used in this work.
