Abstract

Šī maģistra darba tēma ir ASV un Latvijas militārā sadarbība kopš 2004.gada. Pētījuma mērķis ir: izpētīt ASV un Latvijas militāro sadarbību kopš 2004.gada. Pētījuma izpētes jautājums ir: kā ASV un Latvijas militārā sadarbība attīstījās laika periodā no 2004.gada līdz 2017.gadam? Pētījuma veikšanai izvirzītas arī divas hipotēzes, kas apstiprinājās. Maģistra darbā izmantota teorija par valstu militāru sadarbību un dinamiku starp sabiedrotām valstīm, kas teorētiski ieskicē gadījuma izpēti jeb „case study” par reālu piemēru: Amerikas Savienotajām Valstīm un Latviju. Darba empīriskajā daļā ir analizēta pieejamā informācija un dati, kā arī ekspertu viedokļi par abu valstu militārās sadarbības gaitu un ieguvumiem. Darba gaitā ir intervēti dažādi militārās nozares eksperti. Secinājumos tiek izdarīti novērojumi par sadarbības gaitu, izmaiņām, ieguvumiem un Krievijas drauda ietekmi uz abu valstu sadarbību.

The subject of this paper is military cooperation between Latvia and the United States since 2004. The aim of this paper is to research the military cooperation between Latvia and USA since 2004. The main research question is: how did the military cooperation between Latvia and USA develop during the time period from 2004 to 2017? Two hypotheses also help further the research. The theoretical part includes theory about military cooperation between nations and the dynamic between allied countries, which is followed by a case study of cooperation between Latvia and USA. The empirical part of the paper consists of the analysis of the available information, data, and opinion of experts about the military cooperation between the two countries. The author has also interviewed several experts of defense. Conclusions consist of observations about the development of the cooperation, changes, gains of both parties and the impact of the threat of Russia on the military cooperation between Latvia and USA.
