Rezultāti sniedz padziļinātu ieskatu jauniešu mediju patēriņu paradumos, tendencēs, kā arī jauno un tradicionālo mediju nozīmē The term papers “Patterns and motivation of media usage by adolescents of secondary schools in Riga” research goals are to reveal and describe media use and motivational feature tendencies of 16 to 19 year old students, comparing new and traditional media development from the aspect of respondent consumption habits. The work is based on four main parts – the theoretical, the methodological, the empirical and the conclusion. The theoretical part basis is focused on the description and characteristics of the media environment and the youth audience, which is derived from recently submitted literature reviews and several multiple study summaries. The paper also uses the assumptions of scholars, university professors and media experts in relation to the topic in order to elaborate on the most important processes in depth. In the course of the research, two approaches have been selected for data acquisition and registration. One of them is the qualitative research method or in-depth interviews, and the second, empirical method, is a quantitative research method, or respondents' questionnaires. The selection and analysis of research data is based on the target audience of the authors choice, which is limited and at the same time defined by the title of the Bachelor's paper. The results provide an in-depth insight into the youth media consumption habits, trends, as well as new and traditional media significance among young people in Riga High Schools.
