The purpose of the study was to find out whether coherence seeking can be observed as a process when people are leaning considerably towards a particular attitude in a situation when the person has received an information about positive and negative aspects of a particular topic and if the person has initially been informed about the fact that in the end he or she will have to arrive at the decision on the attitude. The study was carried out by between-group and in-group experimental research designs. The experimental group, whose participants were informed that the final attitude will have to be defined, was compared with three different control groups for which the number of manipulations were decreased gradually. In total there were 122 participants in the study. Data was analyzed with analysis of variance. The hypothesis of the study was not approved; therefore, when receiving an information that attitude will have to be formed, people do not seek coherence by leaning towards a particular attitude more considerably than those people, who do not get informed about the necessity to decide on a particular attitude. The study shall be improved by changing and complementing the manipulations used, as well as by considering other coherence seeking processes.
