To var skaidrot caur masu mediju pieejamību un cilvēku tendenci veikt sociālo salīdzināšanu. The subject of the study was, does often use of social media, increased dissatisfaction with the body's self-image and lowered self-esteem. The study involved a total of 110 people, 110 women, age M = 24,21 SD = 4,59, and participants had to use the social media platform. The study used the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, 1969), The Body Esteem Scale, Franzoi & Shields (1984) and the Frequency of Social Media survey, as part of this Bachelor's Study. It can be concluded from the results that the frequency of social media use has a negative relationship with perception of sexual attractiveness, weight and physical excitement, but there was no relation to the self - esteem. So the hypothesis was partly confirmed. This can be explained by the availability of mass media and the tendency for people to make social comparisons.
