Atšķirībā no dažādam valstīm, atšķīrās antimikrobiālā rezistence. Community-acquired pneumonia is very common problem with high costs, that causes significant morbidity and mortality. The incidence of community-acquired pneumonia requiring hospitalization is approximately 25-30 cases per 10,000 adults. Antimicrobial resistance is a very serious problem in the treatment of pneumonia. Antimicrobial resistance differs from country to country. By WHO data, in Latvia, Streptococcus pneumoniae resistance to macrolides is in the range of 25 to 50%. The bachelor thesis analyses information about pneumonia, the possibility of its treatment and prevention, as well as the possibilities to overcome microbial resistance. The study took place at the health and social care centre Sloka. The study was carried out with a retrospective research method. The results showed, that in 74% of patients, amoxicillin or clarithromycin, which are optional and alternative medications for the treatment of low severity pneumonia, were prescribed as the first choice of medication in the institution. In comparison with the guidelines, patients with moderate pneumonia are not treated with an optional medication.
