The aim of the bachelor thesis „Comparison of regional newspaper “Auseklis” agenda with audience agenda and needs”. Is to find out whether the regional press audience is satisfied with the information obtained and whether the media agenda is appropriate for the readers’ agenda and needs – as well as to find out suggestions from the audience what information its representatives would mainly like to receive. The theoretical part of the work is based on the theories of the agenda, use and gratification, as well as literature on the concept of necessity, the explanation of the local media and its audience. Research uses such research methods as qualitative content analysis, survey and comparative analysis. In the empiric part, with the help of a content analysis established the agenda of the newspaper, which of the themes media offers to readers as the most important. The results of the survey were also outlined and the audience’s agenda and needs were ifentified. The obtained content analysis and survey data are compared to identify similarities or differences. After analyzing the data, it became clear that the newspaper agenda and the audience's agenda and needs are different, but there are some similarities. The most frequently viewed topics in the newspaper are culture, sports and education, but the audience is most interested in culture, entertainment and the social sector.
