By providing online file sharing services, a large part of resource consumption is generated by a network load on the service provider’s infrastructure. At present, most such services use a centralized client-server architecture. To reduce the load, it is possible to replace the classic client-server architecture with a hybrid-decentralized peer-to-peer architecture. Thus, client resources would be used to provide the service. The aim of the paper is to theoretically analyse the possibility and limitations of hybrid-decentralized peer-to-peer file sharing in Internet browsers, as well as implement this kind of application in practice. In this paper an application is developed using BitTorrent and WebRTC protocols. The application is introduced in production in the existing file sharing service "Files.fm”. An evaluation of the effectiveness of the application has been performed.
