Augsts līmenis bija vienam bērnam (35 punkti no 40). Author: Darja Golubeva Subject of work: „The role of fingerplay in promoting the development of children’s speech for 3-4 year olds” Academic adviser: Baiba Brice . Topicality of the work: The qualification work is designed with the goal to research and empirically justify the role of finger play for 3-4 year old speech development. To reach the goal in the theoretical part of the work, based on the latest scientific publications and publicists as B.Brice, G.Svence, L. Berka, M. Kolcova, R. Lalajeva etc, the author of the paper gives an overview on the development of speeches for children 3-4 years old, analyses the relationship between small motors and speech development, as well researching the essence of finger play and its use in speech development for three year olds. Based on theoretical knowledge an empirical study was dane using research methods such as questionnaires ( 14 parents of children were questioned and 18 preschool teachers), a test (standardized, illustrated test to check speech development for three year olds) and pedagogical observation. In the paper author also looks at the efficiency of finger play, working in frontal and sub-groups. In the sub-groups the children are divided by the level of speech development and activity in the finger plays. At the beginning of the study after test results two children showed low level of speech development showing less than 20 points out of 40 in the test (respectively 14 and 19). One child had a high level (35 points out of 40). At the end of study the level of speech of all the children rose by 1-2 points, although the practical study was only 8 weeks. The results obtained can confirm the hypothesis suggested at the beginning of the study: if the teacher uses finger playevery day, which fits the child’s age, individual needs and interests, child’s speech development is promoted. The work consists of theoretical and practical part of the work 44 pages, 12 figures, 6 tables, 44 literary units used, 5 appendix. Keywords: finger play, small motor, speech.
