Džordana Pīla (Jordan Peele) filmas "Prom" (Get Out) semiotiskā analīze un rasisma attēlojums

Abstract

Bakalaura darbam izvēlētā tēma ir “Džordana Pīla (Jordan Peele) filmas “Prom” (Get Out) semiotiskā analīze un rasisma attēlojums”. Darba mērķis ir analizēt filmu un secināt, kādas metodes autors izmanto savā kinematogrāfijā, lai ziņotu par melnādainas personas dzīvi ASV, kad politiskajā vidē dominē republikāņu partija. Teorētiskajā daļā apskatīta literatūra par kino kā arī šausmu kino, lai secinātu, kā šis darbs iekļaujas šausmu kino žanrā. Tāpat apskatīta literatūra par semiotiku, lai izvēlētos piemērotāku metodi analīzes veikšanai. ASV politiskās vides labākai izpratnei aplūkota literatūra par afroamerikāņu atveidojumu popkultūrā vēsturiskā kontekstā, kā arī akadēmiski avoti par ASV politisko vidi šobrīd, tostarp Donalda Trampa prezidentūru, policijas brutalitāti un #BlackLivesMatter kustību. Empīriskajā daļā veikta filmā redzamo simbolu semiotiskā analīze un to apkopošana, izmantojot Aļģirda Greimsa aktantu modeli.

The subject chosen for this bachelor’s thesis is “The The semiotic analysis and representation of racism in the movie "Get Out" by Jordan Peele”. The main task of this thesis is to analyse the movie and conclude what methods the author uses in his cinematographics to report on the lives of black people in the USA while the political environment is dominated by the republican party. In the theoretical section literature about cinema as well as horror cinema is reviewed to conclude how this movie fits into the horror movie genre. Literature about semiotics was reviewed as well to understand which method would be the best for the analysis. To understand the political context of the USA, literature about the representation of Afro-americans was reviewed as well as sources on the current political environment in the USA, including the presidency of Donald Trump, police brutality and the #BlackLivesMatter movement. In the empirical section the analysis of the subjects seen in the movie was done, and the results were organized using the actant model of Algirdas Greimas.
