This bachelor thesis analyzes the relationship between eurozone interest rates and eurozone equity market prices for the period from March 1999 till March 2019, using monthly data. Eurozone interest rates are represented by European Central Bank’s interest rate on the main refinancing operations, the rate on overnight deposits and Euro Interbank Offered Rate (Euribor) for 1 month. Eurozone equity market is represented by MSCI EMU Index. To figure out the relationship, a VAR model is created and the widely used Granger causality test is performed to test if there is a causality and what type of causality it is. The results indicate that in the tested timeframe there is a bidirectional causality between eurozone interest rates and eurozone equity market, which means that interest rates granger cause equity market prices and vice versa.
