The author has chosen the topic “Fluctuations in the price of oil products in the world and in Latvia and the factors influencing it”. Oil products that are priced globally and depend on world events, national decisions and many other factors are things without which it is hard to imagine everyday processes. Fuel, oil and various plastic products are the main things we get from oil, but only a small part of society knows how exactly they come into use and how they are priced. Events around the world can affect prices elsewhere in the world and prices in Latvia for these products, while tax policies affect certain national prices. The aim of the study is to analyse the price formation of oil products and the factors that influence it, as well as to make suggestions for proposals to consumers on how to better handle price changes. The objectives of the study are subordinate to the goal of the study and are clearly outlined in the introduction. Keywords: oil products, price structure, oil, excise tax, oil price, market.
