The bachelor’s thesis was designed to test whether there is a relationship between elevated depression, anxiety or stress indicators, with the choice of music genre based on current emotional feelings. To answer the research question, data from 128 respondents was collected to test the study, 47 of whom were male, and 81 were female with an average age of 28,19 years (SD = 6,20). Respondents were divided into three groups during the study, based on their chosen genre of music - classical music, rock music and pop music. 46 respondents participated in the classical music group, 38 respondents in the rock music group and 44 respondents in the pop music group. The study concluded that there is a statistically significant relationship between pop music as the chosen musical genre in the current emotional mood and between elevated depression rates, but no correlation was found between rock music, classical music and anxiety and depression. Respondents with increased stress rates may be associated with selected pop music as the closest genre to their current emotional state, but other respondents with increased depression and anxiety will not be associated with any of the chosen ganres, that would match their current emotional feelings.
