Abstract

Diplomdarbā pētītas metodes un paņēmieni skolēna vārdu krājuma paplašināšanai angļu valodas stundās. Darba mērķis ir izpētīt mūsdienu situāciju leksikas mācīšanā jaunāko klašu skolēniem, kā arī ieteikt veidu, kā labāk attīstīt leksikas un mācīšanās prasmes. Teorētiskajā daļā sniegts pārskats par īpašām metodēm, paņēmieniem un principiem, kā jaunākajiem skolēniem mācīt un apgūt leksiku. Empīriskā daļa veltīta praktisko ideju aprobēšanai klasē un rezultātu analīzei. Pētījumā izmantotas tādas datu vākšanas metodes kā testi, aptauja un novērošana. Datu vākšanas rīki parādīja, ka jaunākajiem skolēniem patīk mācīties jaunus vārdus un paplašināt vārdu krājumu ar spēles metodēm (attēli,zīmējumi, komunikatīvas spēles…) Veiktie novērojumi parāda, kā, strādājot jaunākajās klasēs un neizmantojot mācību grāmatas, var palīdzēt skolēniem paplašināt vārdu krājumu ātrāk un efektīvāk. Pamatojoties uz diplomdarba secinājumiem, tika izstrādāti ieteikumi, kā izvēlēties paņēmienus angļu valodas mācīšanai jaunāko klašu skolēniem. The present diploma paper explores the effect of methods and techniques of widening learner’s vocabulary in English language lessons. Its purpose is to investigate the present-day situation in teaching vocabulary to young learners as well as to suggest the optimal way of developing vocabulary learning skills. The theoretical part gives an overview of specific techniques and principles for teaching and learning vocabulary to young learners. The empirical part is devoted to the description of the piloting of practical ideas in the classroom and the analysis of the results. The study uses data collection methods such as tests, interviews and observations. The result showed that junior high school students like to memorize new words and expand their vocabulary when on the lesson the playful methods working with pictures, drawings, dialogues, etc. are used. The observations have shown that the results of study without textbooks in the classroom help students to expand their vocabulary more quickly and more effectively. Based on the conclusions in the Diploma Paper the recommendations on the choice of techniques to develop students’ English vocabulary have been provided and some practical idieas for teaching vocabulary to young learners are presented.
