The topic of this bachelor thesis is “Children as advertising target audience. Example of brand “Drako””. The goal of this thesis is to find out how preschool children target audience perceive advertisements of brand “Drako”, and what is children’s parent’s opinion and reaction towards advertising which target audience is children. Also, to find out what techniques are used by advertising specialist to address children target audience. The bachelor thesis consists of three parts. In the first part author reviewed theoretical literature and terminology about advertising, audience segmentation and targeting, perception of advertising, advertising for children target audience, usage of media, advertising persuasion knowledge and advertising law restrictions. The second part consists of the methodology, in which the author reviewed three research methods - interview, survey and focus group interview. Analysis of the collected data has been summarized in the third part of the bachelor thesis. As a result of all previously mentioned parts, the conclusion has been made. The main conclusions: Pre-school children in advertising are most often successfully addressed by persuasion techniques such as story, main characters, music and humour. Already the youngest pre-school children are able to recognize advertising from other television programmes and understand the purposes of the basic advertising messages. Although pre-school children are not able to recognize the impact from advertising by themselves, their parents’ observations indicate that advertising affects children. Most preschool children’s parents have a neutral opinion towards advertising to children target audience, however some of them are negatively motivated, because children cannot make rational judgements about the advertisements. A large number of the parents try to educate their children about the advertising and its goals, but at a very general level, resulting in a rather superficial level of children's advertising literacy. In general, almost all the results of the study confirm the proposals made by theorists, which are outlined in the theoretical part of this thesis.
