Respondentu vecums bija robežās no 18 līdz 61 gada vecumam. The Coping Orientation of Problem Experience / COPE/ Inventory, Carven, Scheier, & Weintraub, 1989). The aim of the research is to establish how stress is perceived, as well as the methods used in order to manage it amongst those who are unemployed throughout the process of the unemployment status. Amongst the 103 survey participants, 22 of the respondents were men and 81 were female. The age of the respondents ranged from ages 18 to 61. The scale used in order to collate the survey results was the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) (Cohen, Kamarck & Memelstein, 1983), adapted to Latvian (Stokenberga, 2008), and Stress Management Strategy Survey (The Coping Orientation of Problem Experience), adapted in Latvian (Petrova, 2009). Furthermore, the outcome of the conveyed research does confirm the proposed hypothesis which suggests that statistically, a significant correlation exists between the perceived stress levels being lower and strategies oriented around managing stress labels being used.
