The master's thesis "Social work with group house (apartment) clients in Latvia". The aim of the master's thesis is to analyze the development of group home (apartment) service in Latvia and to research social work practice with group home (apartment) clients. The theoretical framework of the master's thesis is based on a person-centered approach. The case study method was used in the empirical research, and include semi-structured interviews and secondary data analysis. Four group home (apartment) service managers, two social workers, one social rehabilitator participated in the research. The research included data from five group house (apartment) services, that are provided by four service providers in different regions of Latvia. To analyse the research results, was used thematic analysis. Empirical research reveals that the field of social work in working with group home (apartment) clients is multidimensional ,and it is characterized by a person-centered approach in providing support to adults with mental disorders. The main principles in the implementation of person-centered social work approuche are the development of mutual respect and trust-oriented relationships aimed at cooperation, with the aim of promoting self-actualization and social inclusion of clients. The main identified factors affecting social work practice are the insufficiency of free housing stock in municipalities and lack of funds to build new ones or adapt existing ones, lack of community-based services, lack of social work specialists, relatively large number of clients in one service, lack of services for clients with mental disorders, who have addictions and highly antisocial behavior, and restrictions on interprofessional, inter-institutional and intersectoral cooperation.
