The incurability of a child is one of the biggest challenges, which parents are facing. The aim of this work is to identify the sources of parental inner strength related to spirituality and religion, as well as to analyse which aspects of the image of God are a source of strength for parents that contribute to the acceptance of the child’s incurability in the context of palliative oncology. The identified sources of the inner strength of parents - supportive actions, attitudes, and notions that are marked in the academic literature as related to religion, faith, and spirituality - have a common pattern - a positive, favourable image of God. The results of a qualitative study conducted in Latvia also confirm that a positive perception of the image of God is one of the decisive factors that helps parents to accept their child's incurability. Keywords: image of God, child oncology, acceptance of incurability, source of strength, spirituality
