Abstract

Maģistra darbā „Tiesības uz nāvi” autors izpēta tiesību uz dzīvību un nāvi tiesisko regulējumu Latvijas tiesību sistēmā, vēsturisko attīstību un mūsdienu izprati. Darbā tiek aplūkoti pašnāvības un eitanāzijas veidi, minēto terminu nošķiršana un mijiedarbība. Pētījuma mērķis ir noskaidrot vai esošais regulējums attiecībā pret tiesībām uz nāvi ir atbilstošs mūsdienu izpratnei un vajadzībām. Ņemot vērā straujo dzīvības pagarināšanas veidu izveidi, ir jāpēta brīvprātīgas dzīves izbeigšanas veidi. Atslēgas vārdi: tiesības uz nāvi; tiesības uz dzīvību; eitanāzija; pašnāvība.

The author of the Master paper “The right to death” studies the practice of the rights to die in the legal system of Latvia, historical development and modern understanding of previously mentioned rights. The paper deals with forms of suicide and euthanasia, the separation of these terms and their interaction. The aim of the study is to ascertain if existing regulation regarding the rights to death is appropriate for today’s understanding and needs. In view of the rapid development of life extensions, voluntary cessation of persons life should be explored. Keywords: the right to death; the right to life; euthanasia; suicide.
