The Leading Cause of Cancer Death in Latvijā

Abstract

Ievads: Dažādu vēžu veidu kā nāves cēlonis epidemioloģiskais novērtējums Latvijā, salīdzinot ar pasaules datiem. Mērķi: Pētījuma mērķi ir: Izvērtēt atšķirības starp vadošiem vēžu veidiem kā nāves cēlonis Latvijā salīdzinājumā ar iepriekšējiem gadiem, iekļaujot arī pasaules datus. Izvērtēt nozīmīgas vēžu veidu kā nāves cēlonis izmaiņas un turpmāk izvērtēt attiecīgus iemeslus. Materiāli un metodes: Dati tika izgūti no Latvijas Veselības statistikas datubāzes, kas ir laika posmā no 2008. līdz 2020. gadam. Kā pētījuma dalībnieki tika iekļauti gan vīrieši, gan sievietes, kas tika sadalīti trīs lielās vecuma grupās: 60 gadu un vairāk; 15 – 59 gadu; < 14 gadu. Dati tika izgūti, apkopoti un attēloti, izmantojot Office 365 Microsoft Word un Excel, ko nodrošināja Latvijas Universitātes Medicīnas fakultāte. Rezultāti: Vēzis Latvijā, būdams otrais biežākais nāves cēlonis, korelēja ar pasaules statistikas datiem pēc vēža veida kā nāves cēlonis no 2008. līdz 2019. gadam. Būtiska vēža prevalence bija novērota vīriešiem, vecuma grupā 60 gadu un vairāk un kuri dzīvo laukos, kas korelē ar pasaules datiem. Latvijā tika novērota lielāka mirstība no vēža, salīdzinot pasaules datiem, un mazāks dzīves ilgums, salīdzinot ar EU standartiem, kas ir saistīts ar tabakas izstrādājumu lietošanu. Secinājumi: Turpmāka vēža kā nāves iemesls prevalence samazināšana Latvijā ir atkarīga no adekvātas skrīninga programmu pielietošanas, lai atbilstu EU standartiem, kā arī ir nepieciešams samazināt uzvedības riska faktorus populācijā, lai samazinātu mirstību no vadošiem vēža veidiem.

Title: The leading causes of cancer deaths in Latvia. Background: The epidemiological assessment of the most common types of cancer deaths in Latvia with a gross comparison on a global basis. Objectives: The objective of this study is to evaluate the differences in the leading causes of cancer deaths in Latvia in relations to previous years with included comparisons to the world. To assess significant changes within the rates of leading causes of cancer deaths among the genders, broad age groups, regions in Latvia and to further evaluate their subsequent reasons. Material and methods: The data was obtained from the Latvian Health Statistics Database with a study population consisting of both the male and female gender, within three main age groups consisting of 60 years and older, 15-59 years old and 0-14 years old from the Latvian population between the years of 2008 until the year of 2019. The figures was created with the software of Office 365 including Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel, provided by the Faculty of Medicine, University of Latvia. Results: Cancer being the second leading cause of death in Latvia maintained its trends regarding the leading types of cancer deaths, parallel to the global burden of trends over the years, from 2008 until 2019. A gross overrepresentation was observed within the male gender, in the rural areas of Latvia and in the age group of 60 years and older which correlated to the global burden. A higher cancer death rate attributed to tobacco in Latvia was observed compared to the global average, with a subsequent lower life expectancy in regards to the EU standards. Conclusions: Future prevalence of cancer deaths in Latvia depends on the utilization of sufficient screening methods to meet the EU standards and a reduction of behavioural risk factors within the population to decrease the mortality rate of the leading causes of cancer deaths.
