Abstract

Maģistra darbā “Sods kā nepieciešamība mūsdienu sabiedrībā” tiek apskatīts soda institūts un tā piemērošanas iespējas, lai sasniegtu sabiedrību interesējošos mērķus. Autore sodu apskata kā ļaunumu, jo sods rada ciešanas. Lai nodarītu ciešamu saprātīgai būtnei, ir nepieciešams attaisnojums. Šāds attaisnojums ir soda leģitīmais mērķis. Tāpēc m/d tiek izvirzīta un aizstāvēta tēze, ka sods nodrošina ne tikai mieru un drošību sabiedrībā, bet ir arī pamats cilvēku civilizācijas procesa nodrošināšanai.

The master's thesis “Punishment as a Necessity in Modern Society” examines the institute of punishment and the possibilities of its application in order to achieve goals of public interest. The author views punishment as evil, because punishment causes suffering. An excuse is needed to harm a intelligent being. Such a justification is the legitimate aim of the penalty. Therefore, the thesis is raised and defended that the punishment not only ensures peace and security in the society, but is also the basis for ensuring the process of human civilization.
