Mesenchymal stromal cells are a widely studied cell type due to their potential therapeutic effects, of which immunomodulation and tissue regeneration are the most common. This bachelor's thesis focused on the application of mesenchymal stromal cells in bone regeneration by studying their biocompatibility with amorphous calcium phosphate, which is found in the body in the stages of bone formation. The aim of the thesis was to characterize the osteogenic potential of mesenchymal stromal cells grown on amorphous calcium phosphate biomaterial. Immunofluorescent labelling of osteocalcin was used to characterize osteogenesis, while biocompatibility was analyzed by the colorimetric CKK-8 analysis. The results show that mesenchymal stromal cells can grow on the biomaterial, however, in osteogenesis, the composition of the differentiation medium plays a greater role than the presence of the biomaterial itself.
