Šobrīd, līdz ar COVID-19 pandēmiju, aktuāla ir depresijas tematika, tiek novērota iedzīvotāju garīgās veselības pasliktināšanās, pandēmijas ierobežojumu dēļ. Bakalaura darba mērķis bija noskaidrot iedzīvotāju informētību par depresiju kā tādu, tās ārstēšanas metodēm un sekām. Tika izmantota kvalitatīva pētniecības metode – anketēšana. Tika noskaidrots, ka Latvijas iedzīvotāju informētība par depresiju, tās ārstēšanas metodēm un sekām, ir vidēja, un, to vajadzētu uzlabot, lai tādējādi mazinātos ar depresiju asociētie aizspriedumi un cilvēki, kas izjūt depresijas simptomus, vērstos pēc palīdzības. Currently, with the COVID-19 pandemic, the topic of depression is getting more recognition, the mental health of the population is deteriorating due to the restrictions of the pandemic. The aim of the bachelor’s thesis was to find out the population’s awareness of depression, its treatment methods and consequences. A qualitative research method was used (a questionnaire). It was concluded that the awareness of the Latvian population about depression, its treatment methods and consequences is moderate, and it should be improved in order to reduce the prejudices associated with depression and people who experience depression would seek for help.
