To understand the pathological mechanisms of stroke and to develop new therapies, stroke is modeled experimentally. Corner and cylinder tests are used to assess sensorimotor functions in rodents. The aim of the master’s thesis is to evaluate the application of cylinder and corner test in the case of experimental stroke in mice over two-month period. In conclusion, to reduce the habituation and inactivity in mice, it is recommended that cylinder and corner tests be performed alternately and not too often. At the beginning of the study, it is recommended to perform a pre-operative rotation preference assessment. For a more accurate assessment, it is recommended to include the Naive group an several other behavioural tests in the study, as no specific sensorimotor changes were observed in the cylinder and corner test.
