Bakalaura darbs sastāv no 60 lapaspusēm. The present Bachelor's thesis of Aleksandra Ivanova is entitled "development of self-assessment skills for children aged 5 — 6 years”. The aim of research is to study theoretically and get acquainted empirically with the pedagogical conditions for the acquisition of self-assessment skills of 5 — 6 year old children in handicrafts. In the theoretical part of this bachelor's thesis, the findings of pedagogues and psychologists on the importance of self-assessment skills of 5 — 6 year old children and the development of opportunities in handicrafts were summarized and analyzed. As a result, it is concluded that by developing self-assessment skills in handicraft classes at preschool age, an individual acquires the skill to assess his/her abilities also in adulthood, which helps to obtain adequate self-esteem and provides preconditions for a satisfied life. In turn, the teacher helps the child to develop self-assessment skills by offering various types of self-assessment strategies appropriate to the child's abilities. In the empirical part, criteria and indicators confirming children's self-assessment skills were developed. In the practical work with children, a considerable time was devoted to feedback gathering using various self-assessment techniques. During the pedagogical research, the hypothesis was confirmed: the self-assessment skills of a 5 — 6 year old child will be developed in handicrafts if the teacher: •systematically asks for children's self-assessment; •together with children, develops evaluation criteria that will be related to the conditions in making the handicrafts; •uses a variety of forms of self-assessment appropriate to children's abilities; •provides opportunities for self-assessment at the beginning of work, during the making of handicrafts, and also after the work is finished; •evaluation and self-evaluation will focus on tracking successes and turning failures into follow-up tasks. The Bachelor's paper consists of 60 pages. It contains 11 pictures, 5 tables, 38 references and 3 appendices. Key words: preschooler, self — assessment, motivation, feedback.
