Pētījumā tika izmantotas trīs aptaujas: Reliģiozitātes veida Centralitātes skala Z-15 (Centrality scale Z-15, Huber, 2004), Hartlenda piedošanas sev skalas aptauja (Heartland Self-forgiveness scale,Thompson & Snyder, 2005), Pozitīvo un Negatīvo pašnāvības domu aptauja (The Positive and Negative suicide ideation inventory; Osman, Guitierrez,Kopper, Barrios & Chiros, 1998). The purpose of the research was to explore the connection between religiosity, self-forgiveness and suicidal thoughts. Also, the aim was to collect available information about religiosity, self-forgiveness and suicidal thoughts. In this research there were participating 1201 respondents (798 female, 403 male), between age 14 and 80. A correlation study was conducted to test the proposed hypothesis and questions of this research. Three scales were used to collect data: Centrality scale Z-15 ( Huber, 2004), Heartland Self-forgiveness scale (Thompson & Snyder, 2005), The Positive and Negative suicide ideation inventory (Osman, Guitierrez , Kopper, Barrios & Chiros, 1998). The results of the study show that there is a statistically significant negative correlation between self-forgiveness and suicidal thoughts. There is no statistically significant correlation between religiosity and suicidal ideation. The women’s group has a higher religiosity than the men’s group. The male group has higher self-forgiveness that female group. The female group has a higher risk of suicidal ideation than male group. The baptist denomination group has higher religiosity than the Lutheran denomination group, the Catholic denomination group and the group that does not identify with any denomination. Lower rates of forgiveness statistically significant predict the risk of suicidal ideation, as well as younger age and lower education predict the risk of suicidal ideation.
