The theme of the diploma paper: Options for reducing the risks of dysfunction in single-parent families. The aim of the diploma paper: Theoretically and practically analyze the possible risks of dysfunction in single-parent families. The theoretical part of the diploma paper uses systems theory, eco-systemic and family systems theory (Bowen model), which reveals a pattern of single-parent family relationships, a theory of functionalism that explains how functions are exercised in the family, as well as previous studies of a single-parent family. The research methods:The empirical study uses a mixed research design: a quantitative research method (questionnaire for single-parent families) and a qualitative research method (semi-structured interviews with experts). The study reveals that the main risks of single-parent family dysfunction are the following: financial and social insecurity, denial of problems, unfair, unclear division of rights and responsibilities, communication problems and the risk of social isolation. Social work support, taking into account the possible risks, is necessary for one parent's family at an early stage, when a divorce has just taken place, the other parent's death and a situation of choice. Otherwise, if the potential risks of dysfunction for a single-parent family are not identified, if the family is not provided with timely support, then the situation may worsen significantly.
