Abstract

Bakalaura darba “Nostalģija mūsdienu TV seriālos. Nostalģijas attēlojums un nozīme 2018. gada Netflix seriālā "Maniac”” pētnieciskais mērķis ir gūt ieskatu tajā, kāda nozīme ir nostalģijai mūsdienu TV seriālos, un atklāt, kā Netflix seriālu "Maniac” autori panāk nostalģi-jas klātbūtni. Darba teorētiskajā daļā no vairākiem skatupunktiem tiek apskatīts nostalģijas feno-mens. Lai izveidotu semiotiskās analīzes kategoriju shēmu, ir veikts teorētisks ieskats semioti-kā un kino valodas idejās. Teorētiskās daļas noslēgumā ir ieskicēts mūsdienu TV kultūras kon-teksts. Šī darba pētījuma dizainā ietvertas divas pētniecības metodes; semotiskā analīze, kuras mērķis identificēt kino valodas lietojumu, kas rada nostalģiskas sajūtas vai norāda uz nostal-ģiskām tēmām, un fokusa grupu diskusijas divām grupām ar atšķirīgu dalībnieku profilu. Pētījuma rezultāti atklāj plašu un meistarīgu kino valodas lietojumu, kas saistīts ar nostalģiju seriālā “Maniac”. Fokusa grupu diskusijas un to salīdzinājums atklāj to, ka nostalģija ir intīma pieredze, kuras konceptuālā izpratne ir pārāk atšķirīga, lai par to būtu iespējams tieši runāt. Lai gan nostalģiju vai ilgas abu grupu pārstāvji nepiemin, tomēr dažādus nostalģiju rosi-nošus kino valodas elementus spēj identificēt un atcerēties.

The research goal of the bachelor thesis “Nostalgia in modern TV series. The represen-tation and the meaning of nostalgia in the 2018 Netflix series "Maniac".” is to gain sufficient insight into the role of nostalgia in today’s TV shows and to discover how the creators of Netflix’s “Maniac” achieve the nostalgic effect. The theoretical approach looks into the phenomenon of nostalgia from several van-tagepoints. For the creations of category schema for the semiotic analysis a theoretical base in semiotics and cinema language has been developed. Lastly, I have looked into the cultural context of modern TV shows. Reacher design includes two methods: semiotic analysis with the aim to identify the use of cinema language with purpose to stimulate or point to the nostalgic themes and focus group discussions with two distinct groups. The research shows a vast and well executed use of cinema language that pertains to nostalgia in mini-series “Maniac”. Focus group discussions and comparison between them re-veal that nostalgia is an intimate experience and that conceptual understanding of it can vary to a degree it becomes a difficult to discuss. Though nostalgia or longing is never motioned, the elements of cinema language in “Maniac” associated with nostalgia were identified and remembered by the participants.
