The aim of the bachelor's thesis "Gender Representation in Marvel Films" is to explore how gender is represented, what the differences in representation are, and what stereotypes are used. The problem with the study is that, although the film industry has taken steps towards gender equality, it is impossible to ignore the reality of the gender stereotypes. Given that Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is one of the giants of mass culture, it has a strong impact on society. The theoretical part deals with topics such as representation, cinematic language and gender. In the methodological part, two qualitative research methods are considered, such as semiotic analysis and narrative analysis. In the empirical part, using the chosen methods, the analysis of films according to specific criteria is performed. The work concludes that MCU's gender representation has improved over the years, is incomplete, and still practices gender stereotypes, but recent and upcoming films show growth in representation, not only in terms of gender, but also in terms of race and sexuality.
