Ischemic stroke is one of the leading causes of death and disability in the world. As a result, areas of the brain are significantly damaged, causing motor problems. Preclinical behavioral tests in laboratory animals are used to understand the motor complications of ischemic brain injury in humans. The aim of the master's thesis was to study muscle coordination and muscle strength changes in mice under a preclinical stroke model using the kondziela and rotarod tests over a two-month time period. The results of the study presented that the kondziela test in ischemic mice showed sensitivity in the identification of early muscle weakness, whereas the rotarod test showed no change in muscle coordination from the fifth day after the stroke. The kondziela test requires further research for the accumulated data to enable scientists to choose the most sensitive behavioral tests possible.
