Gžibovska O.D. (2022). Kāju veselības profilakse operāciju māsu praksē. Bakalaura darbs. Darba vad. Gzibovska O.D.,(2022). Foot health prevention in the practice of surgical nurses.. Bachelor's work. Scientific adviser: Mg.sc.sal., Liga Skuja Petrusevica. Riga: University of Latvia, 70 pp., 6 fig., 13 tab., 27 sources in Latvian and English languages. The work consists of an introduction, 2 parts., conclusions and 11 appendixes. Aim: to find out foot health prevention surgery nursing practice. Materials and methods: The paper used a qualitative research method: a partially structured interview, observation. For the research 8 nurses (n=8) were interviewed. Results. Thanks to the research, the aim of the work was achieved, to find out the prevention of leg health in the practice of surgical nurses. When summarizing the data on the respondents' work experience in health care, all respondents indicated that they have been working in medicine from 5 to 20 years. When answering the question “What profile do you work in the operating room?”, All respondents (n=8) noted during the interview that they work in the acute and planned surgical unit and are mostly on call. As well as answering the question “What is your work schedule?”, Almost all respondents (n=7) noted that they work 7 on-call months. Analyzing the answers to the question "What is part of your daily work responsibilities?" It was concluded that the respondents' work is predominantly static and that such long stays pose a high risk to leg health. Answering the question “What foot health problems have you encountered? It was concluded that operating nurses face a number of risk factors in the course of their day-to-day work. In addition to answering the question "Do you think that you take enough care of the health of your feet on a daily basis by taking various preventive measures?" it was concluded that all respondents (n = 8) partially take adequate preventive measures for foot health, but it is very important for nurses to be aware of possible preventive measures that will reduce the impact of these risks on the feet. One of the tasks of the study was to develop recommendations, which have also been successfully achieved. The author has developed a booklet that will contain the necessary information for daily foot health prevention. Conclusions. By summarizing the answers of the respondents obtained during the interview, identifying and analysing the literature corresponding to the research topic, the answer to the research question has been fully obtained and the aim of the research has been achieved. Based on the answers obtained during the interview, it was concluded that the respondents usually work around the clock and their work is mostly standing, which means that the nurses are exposed to the consequences of long-term standing. The most common problem that nurses face on a daily basis is swelling of the legs. The majority of respondents only partially perform daily foot health prevention measures and do not pay enough attention to the criteria for choosing work shoes.
